Upcoming Events

Firstly, thank you so much to everyone who bought VOIDSCARRED, and particularly those who have messaged to tell me how much they enjoyed it 🙂

Anyway, it was a quiet summer, events-wise, but I’ve got a couple coming up this autumn:

First, it’s WORLD FANTASYCON in BRIGHTON. This is running from 30th October to 2nd November at the Hilton Doubletree on the seafront, and you can find me at:
Thursday 9pm – Satirical Fantasy (w/Phillip Irving, Karin J Robinson and Caitlin Rozakis) in Edinburgh Panel Room 3
Friday 10pm – Dungeons & Disorderly (w/David Thomas Moore, Kit Power, Trip Galey, Stephen McGowan and Tiffani Angus) in the Main Room
and probably at the karaoke on Saturday night. Otherwise, look for the Very Tall Hair, and I’ll probably be underneath it. Just remember that I’m very bad with faces, so if I only know you from a tiny profile picture on the internet (or don’t see you very often) I might struggle if I can’t see the name on your badge!

Then on Saturday 22nd November I’ll be doing an event at Redditch Library, Worlds of Sci-Fi and Fantasy, from 12noon to 2pm with Anna Stephens and Gareth L Powell! I’m really looking forward to this one, so if you’re in the West Midlands then please do get a ticket and come along.

There are also rumours that I’ll be chairing an event at Nottingham Waterstones in the evening of Friday 28th November, but that’s not been confirmed yet, so keep your eyes peeled…

Hope to see you at one of them!

  1. Oh shit you have a blog! I have a blog! We’re so alike!

In all seriousness, I’ve been writing short stories and vignettes about my orks (low-key writing a novella atm) and I’ve realised in hindsight how much of an influence your books have had on me. I feel like you (and Rhuaridh James) t areally *get* the orks, and it’s helped me a lot in getting the voice right. So thanks, love your work, Voidscarred was peak I nearly had a heart attack when Myrin said “kneel.” Wish I could come to your events but I live in the southern hemisphere.

  2. I didn’t write my previous comment with this in mind (or anything really, I’m just procrastinating) but fuck it. I’m sure you have more important things to do than read some fan’s short story, but if you find yourself bored or procrastinating, I put one of my stories on my blog. It’s not my best work by any means but it’s one of the first I wrote so I’m proud of it. There’s also a bit at the end about how much thinking like an ork has helped my mental health, insight that I got from YOUR silly books. So thanks for that too. Anyway have a good one, I look forward to seeing what nonsense Ufthak gets up to next (or whatever else you’ve got in the works).

    1. Thank you so much! Unfortunately I can’t read 40k etc fanfiction, as that potentially leaves me open to allegations of plagiarism in the future – very unlikely, I know, but it’s safer if I just steer clear. But I’m very glad you’ve enjoyed the stories, and even that they helped! Someone told me once that Thunderskuzz’s thoughts on mortality in Warboss helped their depression, with his thing that there’s no point worrying about being dead because if you are, you won’t know it. It’s strange how orks can be useful like that!
