Publicity… tour?

Well, a series of dates in relatively quick succession and in different places, at any rate. Is it a tour if you go home between? I’m not sure. Nor, I suspect, do you care.

ANYWAY

This Is Where The Future Bleeds is coming! Now on 7th July instead of 30th June, because publishing is ever a fickle being and possibly run by the fae. Regardless, I am doing publicity events to… publicise… it. First off, I will be attending the ever-delightful Super Relaxed Fantasy Club in London on Tuesday 9th June, as this poster will attest:

You will note that I am not there alone, but in concert (dear gods, no) with the wonderful RJ Barker, whose new book Mortedant’s Peril comes out next week, and which I will be eagerly reading. RJ is a great bloke and a fantastic author, and I look forward to an evening of mimicking the poster by refusing to look at each other. There will be advance copies of Future available to buy! I will sign them if you want! I mean, I’ll sign pretty much anything if you ask. I signed copies of books RJ wrote once (with his permission, and that of the shop owner). I also signed a copy of Gazghkull Thraka: Prophet of the Waaagh! by Nate Crowley in Warhammer World because I was just signing ork books on instinct and didn’t register that I hadn’t written that one, and then I had to buy it even though I already had it digitally, but that wasn’t any great loss since it’s a cracking read.

Speaking of RJ, the next stop will be when I appear on Writeopolis, the podcast of RJ and Kit Power, and now assisted – taken over? – by Stewart Hotston. All are wonderful people, and I suspect at least two out of three will turn up on the evening of Sunday June 21st (it depends how many whips Katie breaks out). You can listen in on their Discord channel, or at some later date (literally months later, I think) on their Patreon. I will definitely be talking about This Is Where The Future Bleeds, but also undoubtedly a bunch of other stuff, possibly including sandwiches. I intend to delight in making RJ listen to me talk about the same book again within the space of a few weeks (if he turns up).

After that, I’ll be appearing at Dudley Writers Festival on Saturday June 27th.

This will be at Brierley Hill Library at 1pm, and you can book a ticket by emailing Br******************@*ll.org or calling 01384 812874 (I don’t believe there’s a charge involved, merely seat reservation). There will, once again, be advance copies of Future available.

After that, it’s time for what was intended as a release-day event, but is now a week-before-release-day event, as I head to Nottingham Waterstones on Tuesday 30th June at 6.30pm. I’m being interviewed by the immensely talented John French, who has written some of my favourite books in the Warhammer universes, and with whom I am privileged to share an agent (hi Laura!). It would be great to have a full room in my adopted hometown, so I’d love it if people could come along.

Finally (for now, at least), I’ll be heading up to York to appear at Portal Bookshop. Shop owner Lali is a longtime friend from back in the Nine Worlds days, and Portal is a queer hub in York (and also the place where I signed those books RJ had written). I’ll be joined there by Andrew Knighton, currently in the middle of releasing his own fantasy series to do with destiny. The event will start at 7.30pm, so please drop by if you’re in the area!

That’s about it for now (to be fair, that’s still a lot). If you have a burning desire for me to come and do an event in your town, feel free to pester your local bookshop about it and tell them to get in touch. I’d love to do stuff further afield, but there has to be some evidence that it’s going to be worth both mine and the venue’s time to put it on (otherwise things get cancelled shortly beforehand due to low ticket sales, and no one wants that).

To say goodbye, please enjoy these picture of me being delighted by a cat I met in Cheshire this week.
