In fact, it’s been out for just over a week at this point. I probably should have posted on here about it before now, but things have been a bit busy in a behind-the-scenes way. And to be fair, it’s not like I haven’t been mentioning it in the run-up.
But yes, it’s out! My nineteenth novel overall, and my seventh “original” novel (i.e. not tie-in fiction). I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who’s picked it up so far, and so glad to have already heard from people (some I know, some I don’t) about how they’ve enjoyed it. An author can’t really ask for anything more (well, financial recompense is nice too).
So, what’s next? Well, in the immediate future, i.e. tomorrow as I post this, my band has a gig:
Interplanetary Trash Talk is us, and we’re very pleased to be joined by Fighting Evil Is Cool! and Rhythm Eaters, it should be a lot of fun. You can get tickets here, if you’re interested.
And then a week after that, on Saturday 25th July, I’m going to be at Geek Retreat in Ipswich (in partnership with Waterstones) doing a Q&A and signing from 1.30pm!
It’s free to come along, they just like you to book a space beforehand. The events page is here.
I’ve also just been offered an interview on BBC Norfolk, Suffolk, and Cambridgeshire (not sure why Essex isn’t included, for the full East Anglian quota. Particularly since, as I’ve stated before, Cambridgeshire’s inclusion in East Anglia is a nonsense – it’s not very east, and it doesn’t even have a coastline! – and should be replaced by Lincolnshire on vibes) about the book and the event. That’s booked for 2.20pm on Thursday 23rd July, although I don’t actually know if it’s going out live or whether it will be broadcast at some point later. This will in fact mark the second time I’ve been on BBC radio, as my band was interviewed by BBC Hereford and Worcester in 2018 after we played a hippy festival in Bromsgrove and spent most of our fee at the halloumi tent (that wasn’t why they interviewed us, although it might have made an interesting case study in rock and roll excess).
And after all that… Well, watch this space. More news to come. But if nothing else, I’ll be at FantasyCon in Glasgow this October!
Hopefully see you soon!
